What is the difference between anchor bolt and expansion bolt?

Cast-in-place anchor is traditionally a headed bolt, headed stud or hooked bolt installed before placing concrete.Expansion anchor
is a post-installed anchor that is inserted into a drilled hole in hardened concrete or masonry. Loads are transferred to the base
material by bearing, friction or both.

How do you use expansion bolts in concrete?

Installation Steps:

1.Drill a hole in the base material with a hammer drill and a correctly sized carbide drill bit for the anchor you are using.

2.Clean out the hole of all debris.

3.Insert the Single Expansion Anchor into the hole and tap the fastener lightly with a hammer to ensure it is flush with the base material.

How does an expansion anchor work?

Directly into Concrete - Once the hole in the concrete has been drilled then the wedge anchor can be inserted into the hole.
1.Thread a nut onto the threaded end of the wedge anchor to protect the threads when struck by the hammer.

2.Insert the wedge anchor, expansion clip first, into the hole.
