What is the difference between a standard hex nut and a heavy hex nut? A standard hex nut, also referred to as a finished hex nut, has a smaller width across the flats and corners compared to a heavy hex nut, and a heavy hex nut is slightly thicker than a standard hex nut of the same nominal size.
What is a 2h nut?
The 2H hex nut is a specially designed medium carbon steel fastener falling under the ASTM A194 standards, and should only be used in applications where the advantages are fully realized. The 2H hex nut bears a clear mark on the fastener face, indicating the grade (2H).
